Since its opening in November of 1987, The Museum of Agriculture has functioned as a space for experiencing agricultural culture in a metropolitan setting and has done its best to continuously excavate and preserve the agricultural heritage of Korea. The museum has faithfully carried out its role as“a guardian of traditional farming”. In order to carry out such unique functions and roles more effectively in accord with the changing times, the museum reopened in July of 2005 after two years of preparation during which modern exhibition media and supporting equipments were introduced.

The Museum of Agriculture takes great pride in its legacy as the first museum of agricultural history to open in Korea, and, through its continued excavation and preservation efforts, currently possesses approximately 5,000 agriculture-related artifacts in its collection. Of these 5,000 the most major 2,000 are on exhibit.

The Museum of Agriculture will continue its efforts to excavate and preserve our agricultural heritage and succeed and further develop the wisdom and spirit of our ancestors through studying agricultural history and culture. Also, we will take the lead as guardians of Korean farming by educating students and city-dwellers on the importance of farming and actively practicing our love of farming.
